We grow the grain
Wheat and barley, right here on Bowalley land.
Step off the road and onto green pasture. The air is fresh, the hills are rolling, and somewhere ahead — you can hear the chooks.

The land
Bowalley sits in the heart of North Otago — wide skies, cool clean air, and pasture that stays green and fresh through the seasons. This is where your eggs begin — not in a factory, but out here on the land.
Six free-range sheds sit along Bowalley Road near Herbert. Each one opens onto range areas where the hens can roam, scratch, and do what chooks do best — outdoors.
The chooks
Walk a little closer. These are the hens that lay your eggs. They're true free range — smaller flocks, room to wander, fresh pasture underfoot. You'll see them scratching for grubs, sunbathing, dust-bathing, and clucking away with their mates.
We don't lock them away. We built this farm around how chooks actually want to live — and we're proud enough to let you see it for yourself.
Paddock to plate
Everything happens here on one farm. We grow the grain, feed the hens, and collect the eggs — fresh, the same day. No long truck rides. No mystery feed. Just honest eggs from chooks you can watch on camera.

Laid today, on your table tomorrow.
The eggs
Crack one open and you'll see it — a proper golden yolk from a hen that's lived outdoors on good feed and green pasture. That's not marketing. That's what happens when chooks are cared for properly.
Boiled, scrambled, or fried — however you like them — Bowalley eggs taste like eggs should. Because the chooks behind them are happy hens on honest land.
The people
The Craig family has been poultry farming in North Otago since 1958. Today, David, Linda, Brent, Bridget, Tim, Jess and Anna still gather eggs, check the sheds, and walk the range — just like their grandparents did.
